The Place

It may seem a little bit silly to recommend an Italian restaurant in Paris. But this place cuts the moutarde and more. I’d go as far as saying it’s one of my favourite Italian eateries in Europe.

Daroco is stylish, which is what you’d expect from a restaurant that sits in a former Jean Paul Gaultier boutique. And the food is to die for. Book ahead as its always packed.

The Neighbourhood

The 2^nd arrondissement. Ten minutes’ walk from the Louvre and the Seine. Also close to another of my Paris faves, Liife – a better foodie option for anyone counting those carbs.

A Good Shout for…

Those times when you want a break from French bistros and French food in Paris. (Few and far between, granted.) Also a must for pizza lovers. Put this place to the test. I promise it’ll make it into your top ten.

The Best Bits

• The Daroco pizza and pasta, Paris celebrities in their own right.
• Sitting up on the mezzanine level to get the best view of the restaurant. It’s an elegant mix of velvet, marble, bare brick and wicker. Trust me, it works.
• Wandering past the open kitchen and getting a glimpse of that immense pizza oven.
• The secret cocktail bar tucked away in the back. Run by master mixologist, Nico de Soto, you can count on luxurious pre or post dinner libations.
