French-inspired bistro and bakery affair, Republique, is one of my favourite places to eat in LA. I usually grab breakfast or lunch here but the restaurant is also open for dinner.
The Neighbourhood
Right in the middle of LA. Bordered by Hollywood to the north, Beverly Hills to the west and downtown LA to the east. It’s not too far from Miracle Mile and The Original Farmers Market. This place has its own carpark so there’s no trouble finding a place to leave your wheels.
An unbeatable breakfast. Granola, waffles, a Maine lobster omelette. This place has it all.
The Best Bits
The bombardment of delicious looking and smelling baked goods as you walk through the door.
Celeb spotting. I won’t name any names but it’s not unusual to see a few stars from the silver screen chowing down in here.
The best (but possibly also the worst) thing here is the French toast. It must be 5000 calories. But – ever dedicated to the mission – I’m always prepared to accumulate a calorie deficit and take one of these big guys on.
If you’re in a hurry, popping down for a takeaway coffee and pastry. Republique opens at 8am and there’s sometimes a queue outside half an hour before. Be sure to join the right queue (there’s another for sitting in) and rest assured you’ll soon have freshly brewed and baked goodies in hand
