The Place

Technically SFER IK is an exhibition space. But it’s so much more than that. The building itself is a work of art. Natural materials and a dreamlike design immerse you as soon as you walk through the door.

Tulum never used to be known for its art. But over the past three or four years, things have been changing. SFER IK hosts artisanal and community workshops as well as exhibitions. And I’m really excited to see what new projects come to Tulum in the future.

The Neighbourhood

Right by the beach in Tulum and next door to the Azulik Resort, which was founded by the same guy who created SFER IK. A short walk from Papaya Playa and Posada Margherita boutique hotel.

Also a stone’s throw from Tunich Café. In fact, I had breakfast at Tunich while I waited for SFER IK to open at 10am.

A Good Shout for…

An unforgettable cultural, natural experience. And a cool escape from the hot beach and busy bars of Tulum.

The Best Bits

• Just wandering around that incredible building. Undulating bamboo and concrete walkways. Natural wooden pillars. And huge circular windows with the lush, jungle view beyond. It was an experience like no other.
  
• The shoes off policy. Which means you walk barefoot over all the different materials and get a complete sensory experience.
  
• The building’s eco credentials. Materials have been sourced from local jungles. And the building is propped up on stilts allowing wildlife to pass underneath.
  
• It's completely free to enter.
