The Place

Like Seabaron, Sushi Social is another Reykjavikrestaurant that doesn’t look all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips from the outside. Idon’t think I’d have ventured in unless it had come recommended.

As you can see from the pic, the signage screams cheap and cheerful. But once you’re inside, you realise that this place is far from it.

Sushi Social is a premium Reykjavik sushi restaurant with food, design and service to die for.

The Neighbourhood

Sushi Social can be found in the heart of Reykjavik. It’s a short hop away from 101 Hotel. (read my review here.) And just off one of the main high streets in the city centre.

Kaffitár, a great coffee stop, is literally around the corner. And a few other Reykjavik wonders, Kröst (a brilliant food hall) and ROK (a beautiful moss-roofed restaurant) can be found about 10 minutes away.

A Good Shout for…

High-end sushi, made with some of the best seafood in the world.

The Best Bits

  • The interior. A buzzy, super cool ambience. And phenomenal design. Especially compared to how this joint looks from the outside. I felt like I’d walked onto the set of Kill Bill.
  • The five star food. I’d go as far as comparing it to the likes of Nobu and ROKA in London. And with amazing quality Icelandic seafood right on these guys’ doorstep, it should probably come as no surprise.
  • The cocktails. Sushi Social has an incredible cocktail menu, featuring lots of yuzu and Japanese inspo.
